On March 26, Qualcomm announced the next-generation ultra-low-power Bluetooth processors, which includes QCC514x series and QCC304x series. While the first targets high-end products the latter target mid and low-end products.
The latest series have more solid connection, consume less power, integrate ANC, voice assistant activation feature and offer better sound.
TrueWireless Mirroring technology
The System on Chip (Socs) have the TrueWireless Mirroring technology. It works seamlessly with your phone in many situation such as, one bud connection with your phone the other minors the connected bud. If the connection between the bud and your phones becomes weak, it will switch connecting with the bud that have the most solid connection. That means either bud can be primary and only single bud connect with your phone at the time.
This overcome the problem with my earbuds, when the primary bud run out of battery if I am listening to music or want to make calls I have to connect to the secondary bud and when the first come back to live again it’s quite complicated to pair it with my phones.
Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation
The Socs on both series with dedicated algorithms minimize the latency – the noise that earbud identify will be processed faster, so noise cancelling earbuds with these new series are supposed to work great not just on flights but sports event as well.
Ultra-low power consumption
While lithium battery technology doesn’t make a big change, reducing the power consumption of Bluetooth processor is a big win for TWS, as claimed with 65mAh battery earbuds can play up to 13 hours straight though activating NC will drain battery a bit faster but this open up for other features that will possibly integrated in the feature. And you wear ANC earbuds to shut up the plane engine over long-haul flights without recharging them.
Voice assistant activation
Earbuds with QCC5141 series can let users quickly access to popular voice assistant just by saying “Hey, Siri” or “Okay Google”.
The QCC304x also has this function but instead of voice command, users need to press or touch to active the voice assistant.
