Huawei officially announces the FreeBuds Pro true wireless earbuds in a product launch event that took place just yesterday on September 10th evening.
The FreeBuds Pro supports “dynamic” noise cancellation that can automatically switch to differently levels depending on the environment it listens to, so you won’t have to fix the earbuds frequently to get the best noise isolation.
Huawei FreeBuds Pro feature eartips, sort of, to seal the sound in to the ear. The housings look a bit like Airpods Pro but the stem is straight and larger, the inward mic and outward mic work are placed as same way as in AirPods and so is the working principle. Outward mic will pick up the ambient noise and the other will pick up the sound leaked in that is not cancelled out.
While Apple claims AirPods Pro’s NC system scan the sound 200 times per second to adapt the sound signal, Huawei doesn’t mention this information, but claims FreeBuds Pro can automatically identify the ambient noise sound to adjust the NC level accordingly, with 3 levels – low, medium and high and users can also adjust the NC level manual. This does not only improve the user experience for fit but also the earbuds’ battery life
If true, the FreeBuds Pro can top AirPods Pro for ANC performance that the company claims can reduce as much by 40dB.
Dual-Antenna ensure your devices and earbuds are always stay put and it also increases the amount of audio data transferred per second over Bluetooth
The FreeBuds Pro almost achieve business call performance, there is a bone sensor to detect when you talk on phone to trigger the noise reduction and voice enhancement supported by 3 mics.
Huawei FreeBuds Pro tends to sound like AirPod Pro, but with more bass. For more detail about sound quality – please check back I will update this post.
Like AirPods Pro, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro has a built-in force sensor on the stem and you can customize the control by app with pinch, swipe, long press to do something like stop/play music.
Huawei FreeBuds Pro also have multipoint feature that stay connected with 2 devices at once.
The FreeBuds Pro’s battery life is 4 hours and 30 minutes with ANC on and if NC off it can live up to 7 hours. Charging case provides additional 30 hours more.
Available in carbon black, ceramic white and silver frost, the FreeBuds Pro come with 2 versions one with wireless charging case and no wireless and they are set to release this month for $175 and $160 respectively in China.
